Hjalmar Liljegren

I'm a Swedish based composer and pianist with a strong passion to create new, interesting and most importantly, moving music. As a classical pianist I've studied at Birkagårdens folkhögskola. As a composer I've studied at Gotlands School of Composition and I'm currently studying my composition bachelor at the Royale College of Music in Stockholm (KMH).

I am passionate about writing music with deep contrast, vivid imagery and high energy. It is my philosophy that the music should always resonate on a deep emotional level while also being grounded in traditional craftsmanship.

My musicianship and journey as a performer is always evolving. From performing classical repertoire as well as my own pieces on the piano to currently exploring free improvisation on the grand piano. I sing in the chamber choir at the Royale College of Music in Stockholm.

I have worked as a composer on several short film projects with various directors and film creators. I also compose electronic music and have composed live-electronics pieces.
